Kimber 8400 Magnum Classic rifle is a full-size hunting rifle with classic features and near-perfect balance. Approximate weight: 7 pounds 4 ounces. It’s Overall length (inches): 46.50. The Model 8400 Classic is designed with minimal dimensions specifically for the WSM family of cartridges. It is available in 270 WSM, 300 WSM and 325 WSM. The Model 8400 magnum classix is best described as the big rifle in the Kimber family, and while it too is available in standard cartridges like the .30-06 and .270 Winchester, I believe its size makes it more suitable for bigger stuff up to and including the .375 H&H Magnum and .458 Lott of the Talkeetna and Caprivi versions.

Kimber Rifle Reviews – 84 L Montana

22 May

Enter the Kimber 84L Montana rifle. At just 5 pounds, 10 ounces, the Kimber Model 84L Montana is the smallest and lightest standard caliber hunting rifle available today. It is designed for those who relish the challenge of hunting at high elevations where a rifle must be durable as well as lightweight. Unlike other companies that simply chop a few inches off the barrels of their regular sporters and market them as lightweight mountain rifles, Kimber started from the ground up to design what might very well be the best production ultralight production rifle available today.

The heart of the Kimber 84L Montana is the company’s Model 84 action, which incorporates a full-length claw extractor that ensures reliable feeding. A three-position Model 70-type wing safety is mounted on the rear of the receiver and has a large red dot that is visible only when the safety is in the Fire position. The match-grade chamber of the Montana rifles are designed to “minimal dimensions,” which allows for major reductions in the overall weight of the rifle. The deeply curved trigger is adjustable and comes from the factory set between 31/2 and four pounds. The only worst part about the Kimber Montana is that many shooters will look past it if they aren’t in the market for an ultralight mountain rifle. That’s a shame. The Montana is accurate, lightweight and durable, and that’s a combination that makes sense no matter where you hunt.

The Kimber 84L Montana is a bolt-action rifle chambered in .25-06 Rem., .270 Win., .30-06 Springfield, and .280 Ackley Improved.

Kimber Rifle Reviews – 84 L Classic Select Grade

22 May

The Kimber Model 84L is a new category of rifle.mWeighing only 6 pounds, 2 ounces, it offers the custom and performance features expected from Kimber at a production rifle price. A properly shaped classic walnut stock with 1-inch Pachmayr Decelerator pad diminishes felt recoil, and a full length match grade barrel wrings every bit of velocity and accuracy out of America’s favorite cartridges. Magazine capacity is 5 rounds, not 3 or 4, and both pillar and glass bedding stand up to the tough of the hunt.

The Kimber 84L Classic Select Grade is a step up, with a French walnut stock ebony forend tip and hand-cut checkering establishes a new production rifle standard.. Chamberings include 25-06 Rem., .270 Win. and .30-06 Spfd. Both Classic and Classic Select Grade models hold 5 rounds in the magazine plus 1 in the chamber. Fine details speak loudly of quality – walnut mated perfectly with ebony or subtle inletting that gives a barrel its float. Attention to the smallest detail is a cornerstone of every Kimber rifle.
