Colt Rifle Reviews – Tactical Carbine

17 Apr

The Colt Tactical Carbine, formerly the AR-15A3 Tactical Carbine, is a semi-automatic rifle chambered in 5.56 NATO or .223 Rem. The carbine barrel is shorter than on a full rifle, and allows for easier handling when fighting in tight spaces. In that sense, Colt labels the Tactical Carbine as a weapon intended for law enforcement commonly used as a patrol rifle. However, the rifle is slightly heavier than the Law Enforcement Carbine, but the added weight helps off-set some of the loss of accuracy in the shorter barrel.

The Colt Tactical Carbine features a 16.1-inch heavy barrel. The rifle utilizes a four-position telescopic retractable buttstock that goes from 32 inches when retracted to 35.5 inches when extended. It has adjustable front and rear sights with a flat top rail for mounting optics. The guns has an effective range of 600 meters and a rifling twist of 1 in 9 inches. The rifle also features a removable carry handle, which adds up to a final weight of 7.3 pounds.

Colt is a famed American gun manufacturer founded in 1836. The company is best known for its revolvers and pistols, but also produces a variety of civilian and military gun designs used all over the world.

Colt Rifle Reviews – APC

17 Apr

The Colt Advanced Piston Carbine (APC) is a select-fire carbine chambered for .223 Remington or 5.56 NATO. Unlike Colt’s original M4-design, the APC uses a gas-piston operating system rather than a gas operating system even though they’re similar systems. The difference is in a piston system gas is directed on to a piston rather than gas directly onto the bolt. Though it isn’t new technology, Colt began releasing them into the market in 2012. Colt recommends Colt Advanced Piston Carbine for self-defense, law enforcement or military.

There are two APC models available. The LE6940P is the civilian model, meaning semi-auto only, and it comes with a 16.1-inch barrel, a Rogers Super stock and a 20-round magazine.

The second is the P0923, so capable of full-auto mode, and intended for law enforcement or military. It is equipped with a 14.5-inch barrel, an M4-buttstock and comes with a 30-round magazine.
