The Colt Advanced Piston Carbine (APC) is a select-fire carbine chambered for .223 Remington or 5.56 NATO. Unlike Colt’s original M4-design, the APC uses a gas-piston operating system rather than a gas operating system even though they’re similar systems. The difference is in a piston system gas is directed on to a piston rather than gas directly onto the bolt. Though it isn’t new technology, Colt began releasing them into the market in 2012. Colt recommends Colt Advanced Piston Carbine for self-defense, law enforcement or military.
There are two APC models available. The LE6940P is the civilian model, meaning semi-auto only, and it comes with a 16.1-inch barrel, a Rogers Super stock and a 20-round magazine.
The second is the P0923, so capable of full-auto mode, and intended for law enforcement or military. It is equipped with a 14.5-inch barrel, an M4-buttstock and comes with a 30-round magazine.
