Kahr Handguns Reviews at Guns.com

25 May

Kahr Arms is the company that produces Kahr Handguns and by far, they are one of the companies in America that offers the most compact handguns available today.

It all started with Justin Moon who, at age 14 acquired the pleasure of shooting guns and by age 18 he got a license to carry a handgun. However, he was still not happy with the small calibers available in compact handguns and he wanted to have an ultra compact 9mm pistol with quality construction and great design features. He didn’t want to wait so he designed an ultra compact 9mm pistol during his junior year in college.
Justin Moon is current the CEO and President of Kahr Arms which is owned by the Saeilo Corporation, a subsidiary of Tongil Group.

Kahr handguns are great to carry around because of the portability they provide, being compact is what they do best and the design layout of the handgun is superb.
The Kahr action is a Browning locked-breech design featuring a striker-operated firing pin with a passive firing pin safety, making it a true hammerless action. When the trigger is pulled, the trigger bar begins to rotate a double-lobed cocking cam. This cam simultaneously begins to draw the striker to the rear, compressing the spring behind it, while depressing and deactivating the firing pin block. At the end of the trigger’s travel, the lobe contacting the striker slips off the striker and releases it; the other lobe has, by this point, completely depressed the firing pin block and permitted the striker to snap forward and strike the primer. This single piece takes the place of more complicated and fragile designs employed in other pistols. It is similar in principle, though very different in execution, to the action design of Glocks. It also allows the firing pin block to be located further to the rear of the slide and therefore further from possible contamination by combustion gases and powder fouling. For this innovation, Justin Moon was awarded one of the five patents he owns on the Kahr pistol design. This system is employed on all Kahr pistols, regardless of frame material, size, or caliber.

Kahr handguns are most commonly known as pocket pistols that a lot of ladies have preferred because of its compact design that can easily be hidden in their purse. Ladies too need protection and they can easily find it in this easy to use ultra-compact pistol.

Smith & Wesson Rifles Reviews at Guns.com

25 May

Today, we will look at the M&P 15 in a couple of configurations chambered for the 5.56 x 45, or the rifle that is known also as .223 Remington. A lot of people are fans of Smith & Wesson rifles and with this one, I don’t see why not.

PC stands for Performance Center and trying out this rifle will definitely give you smooth performances, especially when hunting varmints in the mountains. Testing the rifle with superb 53 grain Match hollow point ammunition, it proved to be beyond than accurate enough to regularly hit four to eight inch tall rodents out to two hundred yards or so.

We have tested the rifle on the Wyoming high plains, one particular colony of dogs did present several shots at four hundred nine yards, and on the eighth try I connected with the fattest member of the family. Credit for the hit must be equally split between the S&W rifle, the Hornady ammunition and the excellent Bushnell 6-24x Tactical scope mounted on my particular gun. Smith & Wesson rifles don’t fail to deliver good performance firearms and are very much reliable when it comes to hunting.

The gun weighs seven pounds, nine ounces (the specs call for eight pounds, two ounces) and measured 381/2 inches in length. Trigger pull for the impressively crisp two-stage trigger was an even five pounds. (For those young pups in the audience, yes “crisp” can be a proper descriptive adjective when used with the term “two-stage trigger”. When done right, as was the case with this S&W, such a trigger is very predictable and controllable, even when the final release is five pounds.)

The S&W 15 includes an alloy receiver, a 20” stainless steel match-grade barrel, a nice touch obviously marked not only with the chambering but with the rate of twist, which is one-in-eight-inches.
The fore-end used – a Full Float Yankee Hill – allows the barrel to be completely free-floating. An integral Picatanny rail adorns the top of the upper unit and has thirteen slots for mounting an optical device with any Weaver-type rings. (If you choose to mount open sights, in front of the hand guard is a second mini rail with four mounting positions.) This allows considerable latitude in scope location. The buttstock is an A-2 type and the rifle is available in traditional black or Advantage Max-1 camo.

Smith & Wesson rifles are often great firearms for hunting so we’re not at all surprised that this one is a winner.

Kimber Rifle Reviews – 84 L Montana

22 May

Enter the Kimber 84L Montana rifle. At just 5 pounds, 10 ounces, the Kimber Model 84L Montana is the smallest and lightest standard caliber hunting rifle available today. It is designed for those who relish the challenge of hunting at high elevations where a rifle must be durable as well as lightweight. Unlike other companies that simply chop a few inches off the barrels of their regular sporters and market them as lightweight mountain rifles, Kimber started from the ground up to design what might very well be the best production ultralight production rifle available today.

The heart of the Kimber 84L Montana is the company’s Model 84 action, which incorporates a full-length claw extractor that ensures reliable feeding. A three-position Model 70-type wing safety is mounted on the rear of the receiver and has a large red dot that is visible only when the safety is in the Fire position. The match-grade chamber of the Montana rifles are designed to “minimal dimensions,” which allows for major reductions in the overall weight of the rifle. The deeply curved trigger is adjustable and comes from the factory set between 31/2 and four pounds. The only worst part about the Kimber Montana is that many shooters will look past it if they aren’t in the market for an ultralight mountain rifle. That’s a shame. The Montana is accurate, lightweight and durable, and that’s a combination that makes sense no matter where you hunt.

The Kimber 84L Montana is a bolt-action rifle chambered in .25-06 Rem., .270 Win., .30-06 Springfield, and .280 Ackley Improved.

Kimber Rifle Reviews – 84 L Classic Select Grade

22 May

The Kimber Model 84L is a new category of rifle.mWeighing only 6 pounds, 2 ounces, it offers the custom and performance features expected from Kimber at a production rifle price. A properly shaped classic walnut stock with 1-inch Pachmayr Decelerator pad diminishes felt recoil, and a full length match grade barrel wrings every bit of velocity and accuracy out of America’s favorite cartridges. Magazine capacity is 5 rounds, not 3 or 4, and both pillar and glass bedding stand up to the tough of the hunt.

The Kimber 84L Classic Select Grade is a step up, with a French walnut stock ebony forend tip and hand-cut checkering establishes a new production rifle standard.. Chamberings include 25-06 Rem., .270 Win. and .30-06 Spfd. Both Classic and Classic Select Grade models hold 5 rounds in the magazine plus 1 in the chamber. Fine details speak loudly of quality – walnut mated perfectly with ebony or subtle inletting that gives a barrel its float. Attention to the smallest detail is a cornerstone of every Kimber rifle.

Kel-Tec Rifle Reviews – SU 16

21 May

The Kel-Tec Sports Utility 16 is a semi-automatic rifle chambered in .223 Remington or 5.56 NATO, and, as of late 2011, supposedly .300 AAC Blackout. Like many Kel-Tec weapons, the SU-16 series of carbines is known for its compact design, simple controls and economical price. Kel Tec designed and recommends the SU-16 for law enforcement, plinking or as a ranch gun.

Although it doesn’t look like either the AR or AK, Kel Tec says it was designed using traits from both popular platforms. The Kel-Tec SU-16 uses a locking bolt design found on an AR/M16, meaning the bolt locks in place before firing, and a gas-piston operating system, which is synonymous with the AK-design. With a gas-piston operating system the gas used to push a round out is caught and cycled back. It’s then directed onto a piston to drive the bolt back. The system is cleaner and requires less maintenance than a regular gas-operating system, which excludes the intermediary.

Except for the operating parts and the barrel, the Kel-Tec SU-16 is made entirely of high reinforced polymer, which makes it incredibly light and reduces the price considerably because it’s cheaper to make.

Standard features include adjustable sights, a short Picatinny rail just above the chamber for easy mounting of optics or accessories, a fore-end that folds into a bipod, the SU-16 is compatible with AR15/M16 magazines, and the stock folds down for storage. However, there are five models in the SU-16 series and they all vary only slightly.

SU-16A is the largest with a 18.5-inch barrel and weighing five pounds. It features adjustable ghost ring rear sight and hooded fiber optic front, and the stock has space for two 10-round magazines.

SU-16B has a 16-inch barrel and weighs 4.5 pounds. It features adjustable rear sight and open front sight post, and the stock has space for two 10-round magazines.

SU-16C has a 16-inch barrel and weighs 4.7 pounds. It features an adjustable ghost ring rear sight and open front sight post, the stock is skeletonized, it has a reciprocating dust cover on the charging handle that both keeps dust out and deflects ejecting spent casings, and the Charlie model can fire when its stock is folded, too. Also, it’s only available in a Parkerized finish with matte black polymer components.

SU-16CA has a 16-inch barrel and weighs 4.7 pounds. Kel Tec says the California model shares features with both the Alpha and Charlie models. It basically has the feature elements of the Charlie model, but like the Alpha, it cannot fire when the stock is folded.

SU-16D is the smallest one with a 9.2-inch barrel and weighing 3.7 pounds. Unlike the other models, the fore-end does not double as a bipod. In replace of it, it has a underbarrel Picatinny rail for mounting of accessories like a grip. It can also has a bayonet lug.

Besides numerous AR-platforms, many consider the Ruger Mini-14 and the Saiga .223 to be its competition.
