The Colt Advanced Law Enforcement Carbine is a select-fire assault weapon chambered for .223 Remington or 5.56 NATO. The LEC differs from the original M4-style carbine in that it has a one-piece monolithic upper receiver that incorporates a continuous Picatinny rail from the rear of the receiver to the front, for easy mounting of accessories or optics. It also has a free-floating barrel, so the stock doesn’t interfere with the action when it heats up, and an adjustable stock. Colt recommends the Colt Advanced Law Enforcement Carbine for law enforcement use or self-defense.
The Law Enforcement Carbine is available for civilians and law enforcement. The civilian models (LE6940, LE6944 AND LE6943) come with either a 16.1-, 14.5- or 11.5-inch barrel and have an Rogers Super Stock, which is adjustable for length. And the full-auto version (R0923) comes with a 14.5-inch barrel and an M4 adjustable stock.
There’s also the LE6920 SOCOM, which is a new gun featured at the 2012 SHOT Show. It features Knight’s Armament quad rails and backup iron sights.
